Karamoja Sculpture Group
In 2014, three Tepeth sculptors from Karamoja, Enam Lopirin, Peter Kiyo and Mark Akorio, were invited to undertake a residency at the Rwenzori Art Centre, supported by the Ruwenzori Sculpture Foundation.
There are few carvers still working in the Tepeth tradition. With the Foundation's encouragement, these three have now founded the Karamoja Sculpture Group and are striving to keep their ancient heritage alive. The residency produced many lively and charismatic soapstone sculptures, a selection of which are on show in the gallery.
